Hi everyone! Kevin here. If you are reading this message right now, then it means we are now successfully on the new server that we talked about several months ago. The blog was down for a short period of time somewhere during the start of the New Year but now it’s back up again better and faster than before. For those of you interested you may want to view this thread in the forums for more details on the move. Read on for some more details. =3

So, welcome to Utahime! That’s our server name. Right now, Vocaloidism, Vocaforum and Vocawiki are running on Utahime. So, not only were you able to get faster speeds while browsing Vocaloidism thanks to the nginx web server, all problems faced in the old host, such as sudden downtimes, are no longer here. As we’ve just completed the move recently, please tell us if you’ve found an issue about the site, such as the 404 error we had recently. =x

<del datetime="2010-01-08T21:37:31+00:00">Also, if you find that you are not able to post comments regarding the blog entries or you noticed that your posted comments were missing from the articles that’s because the current commenting system on the blog is down. We have taken notice of that and would like everyone to kindly bear with us for the short time being as we are still trying to sort out the issue with IntenseDebate and Disqus. We are trying to decide which commenting service we’re going to use, and if you have any suggestions, please tell us right away. Currently, I’m trying to make Disqus work. Right now, you might see that all comments are the same on all posts, and all those comments refer to one of our old articles. Don’t worry though, we’ll fix this and all comments are still preserved in our database. We will keep everyone informed regarding the status of the commenting system and once again, your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated. =)</del>

The comment system now works! I don’t know why, but just now, at 4 AM my local time, I just can’t sleep and had the urge to patrol around the blog server for file permission errors and such. And I somehow discovered the root of why no one can comment in here. It’s thanks to a single PHP file. Yes, a single file have managed to break the comment system. Anyways, I fixed the file and as expected, the comments work now! And since I kind of liked IntenseDebate I left it installed. We now have zero major issues, just a few things to clean up and optimizations, including blog redesign and more tutorial articles! You might have noticed that the site’s also a bit faster and cleaner, since I’ve just re-installed the blog from scratch (don’t worry, no data were lost, everything was preserved) and both the blog and the theme have just been updated. =)

In the year 2010, Vocaloidism will continue to change into a better Vocaloid Fansite for everyone, and to do so, we’ve prepared a list of things we’re going to do this year. The things that are on top of our to-do list is of course server management, maintenance and optimization, blog redesign, more tutorial articles, and of course, writing more articles. We also need some more banner arts on top. This year I would finish my high school, so after that I would have a lot of time to manage the site and write more. Thank you so much for visiting today and if there’s anything we can do for your Vocaloid needs feel free to ask right away. =D

Okay… maybe not your soul, but seriously speaking, V-ism is still in need of help in building its knowledge base. After all, we can’t call ourselves “The Center of the English Vocaloid Community” if all we do is blog about Japanese Vocaloids. In other words, we would like to invite anyone and everyone from the English Vocaloids’ and UTAUs’ fanbase to contribute what knowledge they have to the Vocaloidism Blog and Wiki.

…I know the secret to failure is trying to please everybody, but allow me to be generous for now…

What we need for the V-ism Blog:

English Vocaloid bloggers – While it is nice to see some people starting to take initiative in this, the truth is Miyapoid and DT can’t handle this alone. We still need those people who are at the very heart of the fanbase, dedicated to serving Engloid news without biases.

UTAU bloggers – Same point as the above, and I just wanted to preempt this so future arguments with UTAU fans can be avoided completely.

Editors – If you’re really up to it, you can also apply for an editor position here in V-ism. We really aren’t strict with the requirements: all you need is to be a truly-dedicated Vocaloid fan (who stays fairly updated to the Vocaloid news and information around and is fine with using the WordPress system).

What we need for the V-ism Forum:

Theme Designers – Krystal promised us that we would get Vocaloid-themed forum designs, but since she hasn’t started on that, I guess she needs some help.

What we need for the V-ism Wiki:

Contributors – At its current state, the V-ism Wiki is quite bare. We need more people to contribute any relevant Vocaloid information and make it the “go-to” wiki for all Vocaloid needs.

Moderators – This goes without saying… The more contributors we get, the more moderators we’re gonna need in other to sort out the valuable information from the rubbish. Though we don’t value notability as much as, say, Wikipedia, we’d still like the V-ism Wiki to come off with an air of credibility while retaining an entertaining atmosphere (like TV Tropes).

Web Designers – Seriously, looking at 3rd party Wikis that still have awesome themed designs (like hrwiki) makes me green with envy. Getting our own logo is a start, but that just ain’t gonna cut it. Being informative is good, but getting a look at sets us apart from the other Vocaloid-themed wikis would be better.

For all interested parties, please register in any of the V-ism Network sections (Blog, Forum, Wiki). For Web/Theme Designers, you can post your works in the forum if you want your stuff to be commissioned by Kevin and the rest of the staff.

Again, V-ism would greatly appreciate any help it can get, no matter how small. After all, a little goes a very long way.

In the spirit of the season, V-ism wishes to give its fans a heartfelt apology. V-ism has not been living up to everybody's expectations. Hopefully everything will change for the better after [...]

V-ism community: Elitist Japanophile scumbags, or just misunderstood? (Image Source: ナニカシイラ)

Recently, it has come to our attention that the V-ism community is not quite living up to its motto as “The Center of the English Vocaloid Community.” In fact, the opposite has occured: we are being perceived as egotistic and biased – praising Japanese Vocaloids to no end while scoffing at English Vocaloids (“Engloids” to most of the fanbase). Consequently, issues have also arose that editors are not being serious and/or resourceful enough in creating news articles; most of the blame is pointed at JM and his snarky remarks in his Sonika-related posts. However, the voice of one can also be perceived as the voice of the entire community, so now the entirety of V-ism is being criticized for it.

Clearly this is very disheartening news for the rest of the V-ism community, especially those uninvolved but have still come under heavy flak. So, on behalf of the entire V-ism Blog staff, allow me to apologize, make amends and bridge the gap between the Japanese and English Vocaloid communities.

Alright… first off, we need to remedy this issue about the bias against and lack of info on English Vocaloids. Clearly our editorial staff is lacking in this department (and JM’s snarky comments on Sonika didn’t help, either). So here’s my honest suggestion:

The V-ism Blog is open to articles from anyone who simply registers. There is no need to be an editor just to write Vocaloid-related stuff (seriously, the only perk editors have is getting their articles published faster). So I invite any able personnel from other Vocaloid-based communities (Engloids’s, Vocaloid Otaku Network, etc.) to write what they can about the English Vocaloids that we, the V-ism community, may simply not know of. The editors can then do the rest of the publishing for you (especially me, I’m the most open-minded to new Vocaloid-related information *gloats*).

I also invite EVERYBODY to contribute what they can to the V-ism Wiki. To be quite honest, I’m really disappointed in its current state and the fact that we have little to no contributors (even in our own community… yeah, we’re lazy too, it seems). So any bit of help that leads to Vocawiki becoming the premier Vocaloid-related “to-go-to” Wiki would be greatly appreciated.

With that, I repeat my sincerest apologies on behalf of the entire V-ism community. We would still like to be your trustworthy source for Vocaloid information. Hopefully, this could be the start of fruitful and beneficial collaborations between different Vocaloid fanbases.

Well, looking back it has been an exciting year for Vocaloidism. Ever since we reached our last milestones a few months ago we are proud to announce that the Vocaloidism blog has broke 250,000 views and this was actually achieved back on November 30th 2009 at around 1100 hours GMT+7. Of course, all this wouldn’t have been possible without the support of you guys so we would like to thank all the readers and visitors at Vocaloidism and hopefully this will act as further motivation for the blog team to bring more interesting and informative news to fellow Vocaloid fans as always.

And while we are announcing the Vocaloidism Awards for some of the best Vocaloid songs and creators around in the year of 2009, we are also happy that Hatsune Miku Miku blog even posted an translated entry regarding the awards as well, it surely is an honor to be mentioned there. =D

So remember to stay updated to Vocaloidism for your fix of Vocaloid news and information and once again, thanks so much for the support! ^__^

Well, please don’t be alarmed if you have been experiencing the “Site Too Busy/Situs Sedang Sibuk”, “Out of Memory”, or a similar error message while on the blog. Currently we are transitioning the blog from the old host/server (Indonesian based, but the server location is in the US) to a new host/server (US based, and the server location is in the US) of which our forums is based in, but that will finish at around January 2010 if everything goes well. Since the domain lock will expire at December, Kevin have already arranged a domain transfer. The blog may be down at around the 2010 New Year, only for a few hours if everything goes well.

So we will be seeking everyone’s kind understanding in the meantime and be rest assured that the Vocaloidism staff are still committed to bringing you more Vocaloid news and information as always. And if you encounter the error messages you can try reloading the page by pressing “Ctrl + F5″ to clear the cache, sometimes it will get you to the page you are viewing.

If you encounter the “Site Too Busy/Situs Sedang Sibuk” error again, that means that the blog is using so many server resources (as there are many people accessing the blog at the same time) that the server decides to lock the site for 6 minutes. After that everything will be normal as usual. We have tested the forums using the US-based webhost and everything is well – so we’re hoping that these kinds of errors will be reduced by at least 99%. The Wiki will also be moved to the new server, so after the New Year, we hope everything will be faster, better and error-free.

Once again, thanks for understanding. :)

Vocaloidism is a big open community of English Vocaloid fans. Anyone in here can post a news. Just register and write a new post if you want! Of course, that post will have to have my approval first. Anyways, in this post, I’ll introduce DT, who have been writing many articles in this blog in the last few weeks. He is now part of the Vocaloidism staff, as a blog writer. So without further ado, I’ll let DT write the rest of this post.

Hi everyone! Ah, it’s been almost three weeks since I first posted news entries on the Vocaloidism blog, but I didn’t really went around to introduce myself yet. So under the reminder from Kevin last week I thought it’s about time to give a brief introduction of myself here. Read on for more details!

Hi everyone, I am DT here, also known as DTKel on the Vocaloidism Forums. Originally I started out on my personal Vocaloid fanblog writing about Vocaloid news and music when Kevin asked me on the forum late last month whether I would like to write on his blog as well, and basically that’s how I ended up blogging on Vocaloidism currently.

Personally I will be considered a late fan of Vocaloid as I was only introduced to Vocaloid videos such as Miku Miku Ni Shite Ageru and Ievan Polkka on YouTube back in Dec 08 before my interest in Vocaloid grew and I become a fan eventually. Currently I am seeking to expand my personal Vocaloid figurines collection as I aim to stay up-to-date with the latest Vocaloid news on the internet and post Vocaloid related news which I find may be interesting.

So from now on (or since last month) I will be working together with Kevin as we hope to bring you the latest Vocaloid and Vocaloid related news from the Vocaloid universe, so do stay updated to Vocaloidism to get your dose of Vocaloid news regularly. And thanks to Kevin once again for giving me the chance to write about Vocaloid news on his blog. =D

Well that’s about the introduction from me, until the next article then. =)
