Miku Append Module - Project DIVA 2nd

Recently SEGA has announced of a add-on known as “Hatsune Miku Append Module” for the PSP game “Hatsune Miku -Project DIVA- 2nd”, which was made available on PSN (PlayStation Network) Japan store. For information and images just continue reading.

This module has been released on August 31st to coincide with Miku’s 3rd birthday since her software release and you can go over to the Japanese PSN store to get it. The DLC will cost 300 yen with tax included.

Also, this Append module has also been made available in Project DIVA Arcade on the same day as well, images below.

It’s been three years since our virtual diva was released and the staff here at Vocaloidism have definitely remembered her special day. So this will be a birthday article dedicated to Hatsune Miku for all the great songs she has sung thanks to the talented Producers around so just continue reading after the break for more!

First of all here’s a few of the memorable Miku songs created since her last birthday. Song descriptions are open to interpretations so it’s pretty much up to individual fans and viewers.

In this song the lonely girl is trying to overcome her obstacle/barrier in life (“Rolling” being a metaphor for working towards one’s goal, and in this case overcoming the differences between her and other people so she can make friends with them). She tries to roll across the obstacle, but she keeps failing due to the difficulty of rolling up a hill and hurts herself. However she keeps on trying as she convinces herself that she can do it.

A person next to her asks whether she has succeeded yet, but she doesn’t seem to be making any progress all the time. She manages to succeed in the end as the person who has been with her all this while says that it’s enough and she doesn’t have to try too hard anymore.

The video for this song starts out just like a RPG with settings in a mystical land, except it’s the future Earth we know and that the girl in the video has been separated from the person she likes, she searches for him using the ARiA (Autonomous Reactive integral Attribute) program, but to no success. As her life ends she hopes that he will eventually find her on the planet where she’s on.

The song talks about Miku being alive in everyone’s mind even as she disappears, it’s the songs and memories that keeps her alive. Miku eventually comes to the conclusion that she’s (the Vocaloids) loved and appreciated as she sings of a happy ending.

Another instant favorite Hachi song featuring Miku and GUMI, this song has reached 500k views in just half a month it was uploaded. Matryoshka refers to the Russian dolls and the descriptions for it can be found in intermissions of the video, in Japanese and in other languages as well.

In summary this song is about a fish dreaming to swim in the sky. It’s a refreshing VocaRock song.

Information from Crypton’s Vocaloid2 CV Twitter account has made known of a new Append known as “Moody” for Kagamine Len together with a new Append Sweet demo for Rin as well, which you can listen to both of them below.

MMD Cup V is in full swing now, and we get to behold the wonders of a bad AAple, a Yatterman parody, and an intense hatred of mosquitoes. The title for this week’s UtaRan comes from the three themes for this MMD Cup, although the kanji themselves can be interpreted in whatever way the participant wants. Ah, so exciting! I can’t wait to watch all the videos!

Oh, wait, I was here to do something… ah yes, UTAU ranking. I’ll get right on that.

Hear hear! Same goes for the Teto compilation CD Graduation From Lie, though I haven’t seen that being sold anywhere, really… And might I just take a moment to say welcome to the Yufu fanclub, Bunny! Y’know, back in the day, I used to not like Yufu too. But I quickly realized how awesome she was and got won over. Her cover of Alice helped♪ I think my usual “dislike” (more like “indifference,” really) for her was because I tend to prefer faster-paced songs and most people use her on very slow ballads, but lately shes been featured in more unique and head-bobbing songs.

Anyway, not a fantastic, mind-blowing week, but not too bad. I think the point totals were pretty low this week, but mostly everyone’s concentrating on MMD Cup right now, so let’s give that our attention. Change, festival, thought… what will come out on top?

Final Thoughts/Analysis:

SP5 is coming next month! Better make some free time to be sitting in front of the laptop. A lot has certainly happened this year so far, hasn’t it? As for this week, I’m starting to feel as though it’s gone from “The Miku Show” to “The Miku and GUMI show.” That isn’t bad, per say, but I really would like some of the other Vocaloids to get the spotlight as well. I kind of have the feeling that Lily will come out, get a few top songs, then drop off to only show up sometimes. Then again, that’s what originally happened with GUMI and look at her now. Goes to show you anything can happen, I guess. But I still want more Kagamine, darnit. :/

Crypton has recently tweeted from their Vocaloid2 CV account about the test versions of Rin’s Power Append (Beta) and Len’s Soft Append (beta), which you can listen to them below.

Yamaha Vocaloid Store Updated, VY1 Deluxe Package Available

On August 13th, Yamaha updated their store with pre-orders for their new Vocaloid, simply titled VY1 — the “MIZKI” codename was just in relation to the ‘hanamizuki‘ theme (a type of flower). Read on below for more info.

In addition to just the software, which will cost 11,800 yen, there is a deluxe version available for 3,000 yen more. The deluxe version comes with a T-shirt, a face towel, stickers, a special case, and a compilation CD. The CD features covers and arrangements by well-known producers, and along with the songs, there are different designs drawn out for VY1. VY1 has no set character design, and is actually the first Japanese Vocaloid to be released as such. This is ostensibly because VY1 is to be considered a product for professional musicians.

Pre-orders end on the 25th and the software will be available starting September 1st, but if you pre-order you also get a special VY1 tumbler.

For those who want a better feel for VY1′s voice, the songs “Flower and Water” and “648 Song” are being used as a tool for comparison between voicebanks.

There are versions of “Flower and Water” using Miku’s soft append, GUMI, and Lily, and versions of “648 Song” using Miku’s light append and Lily, for better comparison. (“648 Song” was a Hatsune Miku original that was first released back in early 2009 as an example of using just iPhone applications to produce a song.)
