    I like how the verse structure and continuous singing messes with the J-Pop standards a bit. Its J-pop, but yeah, a little different. Me likey.

Final Thoughts/Analysis:

We’re now up to 11 weeks in a row with at least one score of 500k or more.  With the summer unofficially over, it’ll be interesting to see if there’s a drop-off or if the Summer of Scoring continues into September.

Ahhh, is summer already over? I guess it doesn’t feel so much like summer when you’re in a full-time job. *sigh* I guess we’ll see if people will continue w/ NND as much as the past view months, or will school/work start controling lives again?

Final Thoughts/Analysis:

While I knew that samfree’s song for Lily would at least get top five, I’m not totally surprised that she didn’t grab the number one spot. I’m slightly reminded of GUMI’s humble beginnings on the WVR; only time will tell if Lily will end up w/ the same later popularity.

Final Thoughts/Analysis:

SP5 is coming next month! Better make some free time to be sitting in front of the laptop. A lot has certainly happened this year so far, hasn’t it? As for this week, I’m starting to feel as though it’s gone from “The Miku Show” to “The Miku and GUMI show.” That isn’t bad, per say, but I really would like some of the other Vocaloids to get the spotlight as well. I kind of have the feeling that Lily will come out, get a few top songs, then drop off to only show up sometimes. Then again, that’s what originally happened with GUMI and look at her now. Goes to show you anything can happen, I guess. But I still want more Kagamine, darnit. :/

First off, allow me to vent for a while about my work: IT SUCKS, plain and simple. But at least I made some friends at work to make it all a little bit easier. Unfortunately, the world of office politics is a fickle one, and due to a (not-so) unforeseen circumstance, my friends’ contracts have finally expired. Take note, they’re also part of the project I’m in, so now I’m left with the burden with nobody to talk to… so yes, this is a really desperate time for me.

But anyway, enough about that, let’s move on to this week’s ranking, which will hopefully see some brand-spanking-new songs courtesy of newcomer Lily. Don’t get too excited, though, as we have no idea if songs made from a demo program would be allowed in the charts. Let’s just head on down and find out!

The time has come for this week’s VocaRan. As Oban is ending, this is another week that’s busy, huh~ Also… For those who participated in Comiket, good work everyone!

Comiket is where people from all over Japan gather two times a year. Everyone, did you get to meet new and interesting people when you were there? Did you want to meet people but didn’t? I imagine there are a lot of people who feel the same way.

People want to meet others and make new friends because that kind of connection isn’t as prominent as it once was… Everyone, you should take the time to meet new people too. Well then, this week as well, from number 30, let’s start.

    I… wha-… huh… To the P of this song: ARE YOU A WIZARD!? Dios/SignalP did the music, no wonder its amazing (I love what he did w/ her voice). I have a new top GUMI song.

Lily-san has finally arrived!

The voice from m.o.v.e’s yuri, the illustration by KEI (yes, that one), the database worked on by avex, the unique VOCALOID2 Lily will be released from Internet Co. on August 25th.

(This news is a week early because next week’s info section will be a notice about SP5.)

Final Thoughts/Analysis:

GUMI really is starting to get more recognition, awesome! I hope this happens w/ some other Vocaloids soon (Len and Miki would be awesome). While it appears Lily’s demo hasn’t made a huge splash yet, but I’m excited to see what happens after she gets officially released (ohplzplz a new samfree “Night” series song!!!).

Also, allow me to speak out my two cents on the Yunomi incident. At this point, I seriously doubt Minato’s magnet and Dixie’s Just Be Friends will ever be released for public viewing once more. That basically means we’ll never see them back in the VocaRan. But y’know what, that’s just fine with me. I pretty much went through the same thing with Roshin Yuukai/Meltdown, so I’m still gonna love magnet and JBF, regardless of them being associated with a plagiarist. Its really sad that the music is taking such a hit, ’cause the songs themselves are amazing and, honestly, don’t need Yunomi to stand on their own.

But enough about that, onwards to the subject at hand!

    • H4: Another great DECO*27 song. Too bad I didn’t know Vocaloid existed back then, Deco*27 chart-toppers 2 weeks in a row, this time with my 2nd favorite song of all time.
    • H3: When this one first came out, I spammed it on my Sansa in the car (poor Shin). UTAU has almost ruined this song for me. Thankfully I avoid youtube enough to where it hasn’t ruined it for me completely. Love all the artwork for this album.

    • H1: I still think it’s pretty novel. Yeahhhhhh~ I find it fascinating. What a unique… method.
  • #3: 【KAITO】ローリンガール【本家ver.＋ラップver.カバー】 (–)
    I never realized that a song could be “busy,” but here we are. My brain is still trying to process this, but its enjoying it at the same time. If you thought this sounds busy, listen to the original. It still sounds busy. Kaito is just duplicating the awesomeness here. もう一回！もう一回！
  • #2: 巡音ルカ・鏡音レン「Perfect Crime」【オリジナル曲】 (!!)
    Don’t forget to put a sock on the door :3 (sock on the door???) samfree does it again! Len song as number two… I think the universe is trolling me. B| Well a cynic could say Luka song #2, but this is just really well done.
  • #1: 【鏡音リンオリジナル曲】タイガーランペイジ【PV付】 (!!)
    Another visually stunning PV tops our charts. The PV is amazing, and I’m always a fan of how sasakure modifies the voices (high notes, but never enough to kill your ears). This is really amazing. And hurray for a Sasakure song that’s not using Miku getting number one!

In Other Vocaloid News:

“A new standard for singing voices.” The form, the contents, everything is shrouded in mystery concerning “VY1.” It seems the details will be announced on August 13th (Friday).

And on the same day as the details to VY1 being revealed… At the Tokyo Big Sight, Comic Market C78 will open! Vocaloid-related circles’ displays will be on the 14th (the second day). It looks like over 400 circles will appear.

This year we have record-breaking temperatures! Be sure to wear a hat and keep drinking water to help avoid heat stroke! Don’t forget your manners when you’re there, and listen to the people in charge!

Having said that, here’s the rest from this week, starting with 31.

Final Thoughts/Analysis:

Wow, three of my fav producers (mothy(AkunoP), UtsuP, and SAM(samfree) release a new song in the same week. The Buns is very pleased. But otherwise not a bad week, and I’m very happy to be seeing more Vocaloids besides Miku getting high placements; lets hope thats not just a passing trend.

Have you noticed an uptick in scores lately?  I have.  We’ve gone six weeks in a row with at least one score of 500k or more.  There were six weeks like that in the rest of 2010.  More to come on this later.

On August 3, 2010 at 05:56 Japan time, Len’s third chart-topping song achieved one million views on NND. This time it was his version of “Migikata no Chou” by NoriP. To see the original video and more information, please continue after the break.

The first version of this song was by Rin was uploaded on April 1st, 2009, while Len’s version was uploaded on May 3rd of the same year. Both songs are connected with each other, as Len’s version starts out with Rin singing the first few lines and fading out to Len. While both versions share a lot of the same lyrics, Len’s does have some different lines as well as a slightly more upbeat tempo. Rin’s version is embedded below, for your listening pleasure.

The song title translates to “Butterfly on the Right Shoulder” and the lyrics are about two people being in deep love, but how they experience as much pain as they do pleasure from the feeling.

Anyhow, congrats to Len! I always feel he is a bit unappreciated in the Vocaloid world and anything that helps further him along is great to me. Personally, I’ve always been in love with Len’s version of this song, so yeh~! Before we start, let me say big thanks to Vocaloidism reader Lua for passing on this news. With the released date for new Vocaloid Lily (August 25th) fast approaching, it appears that Internet Co. Ltd. has readied yet another demo for her. With Gakupo once again doing some backup, the demo features Lily performing a cover of “Gamble Rumble”. This song was originally sung by her Voice Sampler, Yuri Masuda, and her band: m.o.v.e.. See their version of it here. Onto the demo:

Only six more days until the official Project DIVA 2nd release folks! For all you lucky people who will be receiving your copies soon I am envious. I will probably be dragging my feet on the matter until at least October when I will have a little less on my plate school-wise and fewer financial demands. (I gotta get the PSP as well unfortunately).

Well the news of the day appears to be yet another release of several Project DIVA 2nd PVs on the official Project DIVA NND Channel. It can be assumed that these songs and videos will be featured in the game upon its release. The three songs are: “Gemini” feat. Rin and Len Kagamine (by DixieFlatline), “from Y to Y” feat. Miku Hatsune (by JimmyThumbP), and “Honto wa Wakatteru” (tl. attempt: “I Get it, Really”) feat. Miku Hatsune (by FunakoshiP). Please enjoy these videos below:



The last PV really is lots of fun and I am happy to have discovered a song I didn’t know before. The song itself appears to have first been uploaded by the producer all the way back in 2007, I am sure he/she is overjoyed it has made it into the game.
