Agreed. They're going for quantity rather than quality - but the Japanese vocaloid userbase will fix the three vocaloids for them. As for the voiceroids... I don't know what are they going to be used for. =/

An article I read about the voiceroids that said that the name "Shouta" came from Shotaro Kaneda, where the word "Shotacon" came from. xD

... They basically sound the same. |D; Although with children there isn't really much of a difference between genders, I guess.

In other news, anybody find these two ever-so-slightly resting on the edge of the Uncanny Valley? I mean, their voices are just so... slurred, I suppose. It'll be better as the users get to it, of course, but that isn't the greatest first impression.

It is a little clunky, but I can pick out what they're saying. I guess that's pretty cool. Although I found from listening to the videos that I can't really listen to it for too long or else I start to get a headache...

But still, my initial thought when I saw this on moetron remains: what would be a practical use for this?

Yes, Voiceroids are for speaking; Vocaloids are for singing.

I actually find the choice of voices to be oddly inspiring. Text2Speech is always a little clunky, so why not use the voice of someone who speaks clumsily to begin with?
