Anime News Network and animeanime.jp report that Exit Tunes Presents Vocalostar feat. Miku Hatsune cracked Oricon’s Weekly Top 10 Album list. Last August, Re:Package hit #5 with nearly 20,000 copies, and this is presumably the first Vocaloid album to crack the Top 10 since then.
The exact position is currently unknown since the rankings haven’t been published yet, but we will get that to you as soon as we can. In the meantime, you can hop on over to Vocalostar’s website and see what all the fuss is about.

If you’re a Miku fan, chances are that you have heard the song “Melt” – which was composed by ryo/supercell. He have released an album a few months ago, which ranked 4th on the Oricon Chart when it first came out. He’ll be releasing his first single called 君の知らない物語 (Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari), or “Your Strange Story” in August 12 this year. I don’t know if Miku will sing that song again – but supercell’s website mentions Gazelle, famous for her Melt cover, and nagi. As this is a single, there will be three songs in it. “Your Strange Story”, “theme of CENCOROLL” and another CENCOROLL theme song with an undecided title. Cencoroll is an upcoming anime being produced by Anime Innovation Tokyo with an expected release in 2009. See the promotional video here. As with the supercell album, this single will also have a CD+DVD limited edition with the video clip of the song. We’ll update you as the song sample and more information is released.
I have always loved 8-BIT music. Chiptune is music that is performed and composed by using retro game hardware like the Famicom and the Gameboy as instruments – it’s how music was made for video games back in the old Famicom days. And 8-BIT PROPHET is trying to combine Chiptune with Vocaloid. And I have to say, I loved the result. Here’re their description of the album that went sale yesterday. And you could also hear the samples of their songs below.
Attracting all the attention of street credibility, the worlds cutting edge two elements, chiptune and Vocaloid collaborate on the album 8-BIT PROPHET – TM Network Tribute Generated by Chiptune and Vocaloid. It is the tribute of Japanese legendary techno-pop unit TM Network, created and released by VORC Records team. The album is going on sale in the whole world.
I really loved it – it’s amazing. “Self Control” is my personal favorite of all the songs in this album. Read on to see more details, including two more sample videos. There are more than a few Vocaloid albums coming out in the upcoming month, including a new single by supercell! If you’re not familiar with him, it’s the producer who created Melt. We’ll keep you posted with more news later on today.
In case you haven't noticed, I'm a huge PangYa fan! xD
Remember when Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin and Kagamine Len used to be in PangYa almost exactly last year? Now it’s Megurine Luka’s turn as the Vocaloid event is back in PangYa! This time, the theme is Shining Sand, and the song “Nowhere REMIX” can already be heard in the actual event site. Hatsune Miku was a costume for Kooh, Kagamine Rin was a costume for Hana and Kagamine Len was a costume for Ken. I’m guessing that Megurine Luka would be a costume for Arin. But there’s a small possibility that it’ll be Cecilia’s costume too. Last year, Hatsune Miku sung the song Bunny Picnic and A Shiny Day, which was used for West Wiz and Wiz Wiz courses when a player using a Kooh with Hatsune Miku enters the course. Kagamine Rin sung Revive, which is just a PangYa theme song. Kagamine Len sung Crystal Lake, which is used in Ice Spa. The PangYa event page hints that Megurine Luka will sing Nowhere, which will be played in Shining Sand. I love every PangYa BGM, and making a Vocaloid sing them just made them much better. Am looking forward to this event, which will start at 4 June.

The Internet Company, who sells Kamui Gakupo and is about to release Megpoid, have posted four demo songs for Megpoid in their Megpoid demo page. Two of them is “Be MYSELF” (one is a chorus version), and the other two is “Fly me to the Moon” (divided into two parts). You can check all of them here. Since they’re all in a streaming file, I can’t embed it into the blog. Also, Nakajima Megumi, the voice actor of Megpoid, have uploaded her singing of “Be MYSELF” on YouTube, which you can see after the break, so you can compare Nakajima Megumi’s voice with her vocaloid’s voice.
