Nico Nico Douga hit 10 Million uploads last Friday night, nearly approximately 3 years and 1 week after the site went live. It’s a major milestone and everyone involved at Niwango should be proud. So who got the magic 10 Million? Click the jump and find out.
It seems like the Vocaloid fandom has grown and the amount of merchandise has been exponentially increasing. Why even here (Texas, USA) there has been a great difference in the amount of Vocaloid merchandise from last year to the present.

Well looks like there haven’t been any huge hits in the UTAU world recently… still, if the trend from last week (overall points being higher) keeps up, I’ll be a happy death tiger. If the average of points keeps rising, it’s also a sign of rising popularity, right? Right?
So even with school, my part-time job, and even my friends, none of it matters, in the end, just throw it all aw– no wait, that’s not right. Rather, even with all of this going on all at once in our lives, we here at the UtaRan are determined to hang in there. However, with that having been said, I must inform you that the translations will not necessarily be part of the article as soon as it’s published– school has to come first right now, and we don’t want the cuddly neighborhood death tiger living in a cardboard box under a bridge because she flunked out of college, do we? D: In the same way, comments will be added to the article later, just like the VocaRan articles. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience the lack of our opinions might cause you. D:
But as for now, we present week 70 of the Weekly UTAU Ranking. Onward to victory!

First off, welcome to the new and improved WVR review article format version 5.2 (WHEW~!!!). Because of the new History link added last week, we are now able to give comments to the songs a little bit earlier than the actual ranking. This new format should also technically allow for all the editors to comment without looking overcrowded and cluttered. But then, that reminds me: where in the world are the other editors!? I haven’t seen them for the past couple of days now. Maybe they’ll come around later. </morning rave>
Anyways, let’s get it on with this week’s chart. From what I can see from the NND ranking, we got a few interesting songs this week. All I can say is, “so I herd yu liek meidos…”
Yeah, we know how late we are in posting this article and we apologize. Earlier this week saw Hatsune Miku’s concert, both as a “thank you” to the Vocaloid community as well as a preview of what’s to come, more specifically in -Project DIVA-. For more pictures and song list, please read on after the break.
This may be the most obscure picture I've ever used
For those of you in locations that follow Daylight Savings Time, we set the clocks ahead one hour on Saturday night/Sunday morning. Since that hour is lost, we need to budget our time accordingly, so some short but sweet songs await you after the break.
Information from 4Gamer has revealed that the price for the first Hatsune Miku -Project DIVA- DLC pack is set to be at 2,000 yen with taxes included and scheduled for release on March 25th 2010. And here’s the full song list below:
1/6 -d2 mix- by VocaloidP
Nisoku Hokou by DECO*27
celluloid by baker remix:Aether_Eru
Uraomote Lovers by wowaka (GenjitsutouhiP)
Alice-DIVA mix by FullkawaP
Uta ni Katachi Hanaikeredo by doriko
SPiCa by TokuP
Puzzle by KuwagataP
Hello, Planet by sasakure.UK
Also, the official website for the -Project DIVA- sequel is now up and you can go to the website here.
I… somehow get the feeling I’ve been one-upped… Hmm. Well anyway. Let’s avoid the obvious jokes one could make about this week’s ranking and just focus on the good stuff, yes? No, wait, that didn’t come out right– oh, I give up.
UTAU has been out for two whole years already… feels like just yesterday I was listening to UTAU songs on youtube (this is before I learned youtube sucked compared to NND) and wondering how people could put so much effort into something with such little chance of any gratitude or recognition being given back. And now here I am, toiling away every week to bring all of you the best UTAU Ranking coverage I can, even though only a single-digit number of people actually care outside of Aster and CK. Funny how life works sometimes.

…but the voice of the people is also stated to be the voice of madness, which is very appropriate in the above context, really. </self-deprecation>
Anyway, so I finally got around and refurbished the article’s format a bit, figuring out how to make good use of headers (GASP!) so that I don’t abuse the BOLD-ITALICS-UNDERLINE-ALLCAPS combo… too much… I’ll stop ranting now and just move on to the charts.
I apologize for the lateness. Real Life happened… so to make up for it, comment overcrowding will be overlooked for this article. Not much, I know, but please bear with us. Oh, and BTW, red2 is now red1. *RIMSHOT~!*
Do you have a Birthday in the summer? No? Well, tell your parents to send you to Los Angeles between July 1st-4th! Why you ask? Because Yuu Asakawa, the voice actress of Megurine Luka, is going to be there!
Anime Expo has announced that Ms. Asakawa is going to be their guest of honor this year! And what an honor it is, I would love to have a Luka Nendoroid autographed by her. Anime Expo is the largest anime and manga convention in the United States and has been bringing in famous guests every year.
Quote from Anime News Network:
“Yuu Asakawa has enjoyed much success over her career as a seiyuu. Her extensive list of credits include work on some of the most famous anime titles in the industry, such as the Love Hina series (Motoko Aoyama), School Rumble (Otoko Osakabe), the Vandread series (Jura Basil Elden), Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040 (Priss S. Asagiri) and Azumanga Daioh (Sakaki). Ms. Asakawa has lent her vocal talents in more than 70+ anime titles, including such others as Kaleido Star, Ikkitousen: Dragon Destiny and Fate/stay night. “
